Tips for a better puzzle
Words of 5–9 letters scramble best: long enough to be a challenge, short enough to stay fun. Avoid 3-letter words (too easy) and very long phrases. For younger kids, check UPPERCASE letters in Options — capital letters are easier to recognize. A themed list (all animals, all Christmas words) gives solvers helpful context, which is why our theme buttons group words that belong together.
How does the scrambler work?
Each word's letters are shuffled randomly right in your browser — nothing you type is sent to any server. The tool re-shuffles until the scrambled version differs from the original, so a word never appears unscrambled by accident. Your answer key preserves the original order so grading takes seconds.
